Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Urban Operas collects, why, and what we do not do. The short version: we collect what is needed to run your account and play your shows. We do not sell your data, we do not run ad trackers, and we do not use third party analytics.
Who we are
Urban Operas is operated by Urban Operas, LLC. When this policy says "we" or "us" it means Urban Operas, LLC. Contact us at privacy@urbanoperas.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details. Your email address and a display name if you set one. Your password is handled by Amazon Cognito and is never visible to us.
- Email list signups. If you join our list from the website, we store your email address and where you signed up.
- Creator submissions. If you submit a project, we store your name, email, project details, and the screener link you provide.
Information created as you use the service
- Viewing activity. Which episodes you watch and how far you got, so we can resume playback and show what to watch next.
- Your saved items. Your list and the stars you follow.
- Referrals. If you invite someone, we record that the invitation converted, so credit reaches the right account.
- Basic technical data. Country and device type, used for playback compatibility and security.
Payment information
We never see or store your card number. Subscriptions purchased in the app are billed by Apple or Google. Subscriptions purchased elsewhere are processed by Stripe. Those companies handle the card details directly and share only the fact of a successful payment with us.
What we do not do
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not run advertising trackers or third party analytics. We do not build advertising profiles or share your viewing history with data brokers. This is not a promise about the future that we can quietly break: it reflects how the platform is actually built today, and changing it would require updating this policy.
How we use what we collect

- To play episodes and remember your place
- To recommend series based on what you have watched
- To process subscriptions and handle billing problems
- To send service email such as password resets, receipts, and billing notices
- To send optional marketing email about new series and premieres, which you can turn off at any time
- To detect fraud, abuse, and unauthorized copying of our content
Service providers
We rely on a small number of companies to operate. They may process your data only to provide their service to us:
- Amazon Web Services. Account sign in, databases, email delivery, and video delivery.
- Stripe. Payment processing for subscriptions not billed through an app store.
- Apple and Google. In app purchase billing and subscription management.
Your choices and rights
- Access or correct your information. Most details can be changed in your account. For anything else, email us.
- Delete your account. Email privacy@urbanoperas.com and we will delete your account and personal data, except records we must keep for tax, accounting, or fraud prevention.
- Marketing email. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing does not stop essential service email such as receipts and password resets.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to appeal a decision we make. Contact us and we will respond.
How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is open. After deletion we remove personal data within 30 days, except records retained for legal, tax, or fraud prevention purposes. Creator submissions are kept while a project is under consideration and for a reasonable period afterward.
Security
Passwords are managed by Amazon Cognito and are never stored by us in readable form. Data is encrypted in transit. Our databases are not reachable from the public internet. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not cut corners here.
Children
Urban Operas is not intended for children. Our programming is rated for mature audiences, and the service is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that meaningfully affects you, we will notify you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
