About the character
Toni Blake did not set out to be anybody's secret. A nail tech with her own shop and her own money, Toni met Andre when he had no ring on and no reason to lie, and by the time the truth surfaced she was already in love and already pregnant. The series meets her at the moment she decides she is done being the apology in someone else's marriage.
Toni keeps receipts. Texts, transfers, voicemails, dates. Not because she plans to use them, but because being the other woman taught her that the truth is the only thing nobody can take from her. She is funny in a way that makes the audience forget how much she is carrying, and ruthless in a way that only shows when someone touches what is hers.
By the end of season one, Toni is not asking Andre to choose anymore. She is deciding which of his two lives survives her.
