Path two

Submit a completed micro drama

Completed micro dramas are only accepted through approved distribution or aggregation partners.

Already shot your series? Finished micro dramas come to Urban Operas through an approved distribution partner, who handles rights, quality check, and delivery.

Why a partner? Platforms don't take raw public uploads — content comes in through an approved distributor that verifies you own it and that it's ready to stream. It protects you and it protects the slate.

Microdrama submission questions

How do I submit a microdrama to Urban Operas?

There are two routes. If you have a script or a show idea that has not been shot, use the script submission form above and our team reviews it directly. If you have a completed microdrama, it comes to Urban Operas through an approved distribution or aggregation partner, who verifies rights and delivery before it reaches the platform.

Does it cost anything to submit?

No. Submitting a script to Urban Operas is free and always will be. Anyone charging you a fee to submit your micro drama is running a different kind of business than we are.

What kind of microdramas does Urban Operas accept?

Vertical drama shot for phones in 9:16, built as a series of roughly sixty to ninety second episodes, each ending on a hook. Love, loyalty, betrayal, power and family. Stories that know us.

Can I upload a finished microdrama directly to Urban Operas?

No. Completed micro dramas are only accepted through approved distribution or aggregation partners. That partner confirms you own what you are delivering and that it meets technical standards, which protects both you and the platform. Distribution companies and aggregators can apply for partner accreditation.

What is a microdrama?

A microdrama is a vertical scripted series made for phones, told in very short episodes, usually around a minute each, with a cliffhanger at the end of every one. Also called a vertical series, vertical drama or short form vertical series. Urban Operas produces original microdrama series and premieres November 26.

Where can I sell my microdrama?

Urban Operas acquires and commissions vertical drama. If your microdrama is written but not shot, submit the script above. If it is finished and you are looking for a buyer, it reaches us through an approved distribution or aggregation partner, which is the standard route platforms use to acquire short form vertical series. Either way you keep talking to a studio that is actively acquiring, not a submission queue.

Who buys microdramas and vertical series?

The market is young and it moves through distributors and aggregators rather than open uploads. Urban Operas is a buyer: we produce our own slate and acquire outside vertical drama that fits it. Distribution companies and aggregators representing a catalogue of micro drama can apply for partner accreditation and deliver to us directly.

Do you accept Black microdramas and stories for Black audiences?

That is the whole point. Urban Operas exists because Black vertical drama was being made and had nowhere built for it. Our slate is Black microdrama written, cast and shot by our own team, and outside submissions are read with the same audience in mind. Stories that know us.

Do you accept a vertical series that already streamed somewhere else?

Sometimes, depending on what rights are still available in your territory. Chain of title is what decides it, which is exactly what an approved distribution partner verifies before delivery. If you are unsure what you still control, start with your distributor.

What format do you need a vertical series delivered in?

Vertical 9:16, shot for phones, in a series of roughly sixty to ninety second episodes. Deliver the highest quality master you have; we transcode for streaming on our side. Horizontal footage cropped to vertical does not work on a phone first platform.
